MARCH 10, 2021 SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT! THE MARCH OF MADNESS – FROM FOX: "Squad" member Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., joined a group of her Democratic colleagues in calling on President Biden's education secretary to suspend standardized testing requirements amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Omar signed onto a letter to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona that urged the new secretary to "provide all states with waivers" for federal standardized testing "for this school year." "We should be prioritizing the students’ academic, and emotional well-being, not arbitrary standardized testing goals," wrote Omar, responding to a tweet from Rep. Erin Murphy calling for a pause on standardized testing. "Proud to join [Rep. Jamaal Bowman] in an effort to provide students with standardized testing waivers for this academic year. #SuspendTheTests," she added. DUMB, DUMB, DUMB – FROM AMERICAN GREATNESS: An air traffic controller is ringing alarm bells about the Biden administration’s mask mandates, warning that the face coverings are creating a serious safety hazard. Investigative journalist Alex Berenson reported on Twitter that he received an “urgent warning” from an air traffic controller who works at a major Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The whistleblower told Berenson that the FAA issued a guidance about a month ago requiring controllers to “wear masks at all times” while at work and in position, and warned that the directive could have devastating consequences for airline passengers and pilots. Prior to this, he said, most controllers took off masks while speaking directly with pilots. The whistleblower noted that posters have gone up where he works that say “mask up for the mission,” and his supervisors are now insisting that they keep the masks on while speaking with pilots. “For context, our headsets use a boom microphone that adjusts to fit somewhere an inch or two away from our face. It has created an issue where we get a lot more read-back errors from pilots on instructions because they can’t hear us clearly over the radio,” he explained. Another brilliant Biden administration move. I guess they're following the "science," right to disaster. March 10, 2021 Permalink THE WHISPERS ARE BECOMING LOUDER – AT 11:30 P.M. ET: We continue on the theme that we hit yesterday, the clear and developing matter of the president's ability to carry out the job to which he was elected. It could become an all-consuming issue very soon, despite attempts by the worst of the mainstream press to avoid the question altogether, and the pathetic announcements by the White House today that President Biden will soon get out in public more. Fox this evening ran a devastating comparison between the Joe Biden of a decade ago and the Joe Biden of today. One had to be appalled that the man who may have to make a nuclear decision at 3 a.m. has deteriorated into the shell that he is. As we've pointed out, enemies of this nation are watching. And so are the American people. From the Washington Examiner:
COMMENT: The question must be asked: Who in a democratic nation decides whether a president is fit for office? The answer is clear. The American people decide, and they don't need a doctor's note to help with their decision. If they look at a president, and have no confidence in the person they see, that's it. And the numbers are becoming very bad for Joe Biden. Formal governmental procedures for removing a president under the 25th Amendment are there, but we will know the truth before the politicians do. Stay tuned. This sad story, and it is sad, is continuing. I cannot see a happy ending. March 10, 2021 Permalink
MARCH 9, 2021 SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: A PASSING TO NOTE – FROM FOX: Roger Mudd, the longtime political correspondent and anchor for NBC and CBS who once stumped Sen. Edward Kennedy by simply asking why he wanted to be president, has died. He was 93. CBS News says Mudd died Tuesday of complications of kidney failure at his home in McLean, Virginia. During more than 30 years on network television, starting with CBS in 1961, Mudd covered Congress, elections and political conventions and was a frequent anchor and contributor to various specials. His career coincided with the flowering of television news, the pre-cable, pre-Internet days when the big three networks and their powerhouse ranks of reporters were the main source of news for millions of Americans. Besides work at CBS and NBC, he did stints on PBS’s "MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour" and the History Channel. When he joined Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer’s show in 1987, Mudd told The Associated Press: "I think they regard news and information and fact and opinion with a reverence and respect that really is admirable." A reporter of the old school, probably not employable today. He doesn't check off one of the required diversity boxes, A ONCE-GREAT POLITICAL PARTY – FROM FOX: The entire Nevada Democratic Party staff quit after a left-wing slate of candidates picked up seats in the party's leadership. The party's executive director, Alana Mounce, sent an email to Judith Whitmer, who won a spot as the party's chair on Saturday, notifying Whitmer that she and other staff members were resigning. That included the party's operations director, research director, communications director, and finance director, The Intercept reported Monday. Whitmer had run as part of the "The NV Dems Progressive Slate," in opposition to the "The Progressive Unity Slate," run by the Democratic Party. "We weren’t really surprised, in that we were prepared for it," Whitmer told the Intercept. "But what hit us by surprise and was sort of shocking is that for a slate that claimed that they were all about unity, and kept this false narrative of division going on throughout the entire campaign — in fact they kept intensifying that — that’s what was surprising about it, was the willingness to just walk away, instead of working with us." Many of those who won are formal members of the Democratic Socialists of America. They have become the real Democratic Party. March 9, 2021 Permalink
THE QUESTION CONTINUES TO GROW – OVERNIGHT: Who is in charge at the White House? Do we believe the propaganda ministry or our own lyin' eyes? It is perfectly clear that the president is in poor shape, and getting worse by the day. He mumbles, he forgets, he's sometimes incoherent. We've pointed out that a number of his appointments at the sub-Cabinet level, where the daily decisions are really made, are from the far left of the Democratic Party. Is it the Biden administration? Or the Obama administration? Or is Bernie Sanders the key man? Meanwhile, Kamala Harris isn't missing a beat. The ambition oozes. From Fox:
COMMENT: What many are saying privately, and increasingly hinting at in public, is that Biden isn't long for the Oval Office. If his decline continues, even his press secretary will not be able to hide it. As for Kamala Harris, I wonder if she carries a stethoscope. Remember, she ran for president last year and had to drop out of the Democratic primaries before a single primary vote was cast, because her poll standings were so low. She usually performs below expectations. If she becomes president quickly, the American people might be slow to give her much support. March 9, 2021 Permalink
